Dr. Starke
Dr. Starke is a native of southwestern Kansas. He is a graduate of Oral Roberts University School of Medicine in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He completed a surgical internship at the University of South Dakota and a surgical residency at the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Peoria, Illinois. After completing a surgical oncology (cancer surgery) fellowship at Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York, he served on the faculty of the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine in Tulsa. For 2 1/2 years, he served as medical director and chief of surgery at Manna Mission Hospital in Ghana, West Africa. He continues to support the Manna Mission Hospital with regular trips to Ghana to provide care. Upon his return from Africa in 1997, he joined Columbia Surgical Associates.

His area of expertise is in surgical oncology (surgery of breast, thyroid, esophageal, gastric, pancreatic, liver, colon, skin and soft tissue cancers) as well as general surgery. He has served as Chairman of the Department of Surgery and as the American College of Surgeons Cancer Liaison at Boone Hospital Center. He was recently named by Inside Columbia Magazine as one of Columbia's "Top Docs." He and his wife Mame have six children.
